A view from Patagonia's sky
The following series of images consists of aerial photos taken during a flight over the region in Patagonia - southern Chile. The Puerto Montt-Chaiten route captivates with a fascinating play of colors of pictorial beauty.
Chaiten, located in the Chilean Patagonia, is one of the most
isolated regions of Chile. The most common access is by sea with
boat that travels in summer once a week and in winter depending on
weather conditions, up to once a month.
The other access is by air with very small airplanes that often do
not reach their destination.
For many years the connection with the rest of the continent was cut off and the only way to access by land was crossing the mountain range to Argentina. Nowadays the connections have improved, however, the remoteness and the instability of the connections make it still an area of high isolation.
